Managing Director
20+ years of real-time transmission & power system control across four countries — UK, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt
Apex AI Power Grid UK was founded by an engineer with over two decades of hands-on, national-grid-scale power system control experience. As Managing Director, he most recently served at National Grid ESO / NESO in Great Britain as a National Balancing Engineer and OBP (Open Balancing Platform) Super User — leading UAT testing on the platform and issuing real-time bulk instructions through the Balancing Mechanism to keep frequency within statutory limits across wind, solar, nuclear and battery storage. His remit spanned ancillary services dispatch, constraint management across the transmission boundary, and acting as a Black Start and grid recovery lead responder.
Before the UK, he held senior real-time control roles at DEWA (Dubai Electricity & Water Authority), overseeing 400kV and 132kV transmission and generation, emergency handling and commissioning across the Emirate's network. Prior to that, at Saudi Electricity Company's National Control Centre, he directed a 60,000MW transmission and generation network and was subject matter expert for AGC (Automatic Generation Control) economic dispatch modes — TLB, CFC and CNI — including cross-border frequency control over the GCCIA interconnection linking Saudi Arabia to the wider Gulf grid. His career began at Egypt's national transmission operator, EETC, as a real-time dispatcher and maintenance engineer, covering load flow and power system studies from the ground up.
He holds a BSc in Electrical Power & Machines Engineering (Excellent grade) from Helwan University, and is a certified Operations, Generation and Transmission Engineer through Manitoba Hydro International (Canada). His professional memberships include the IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology, UK), the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate, and the Saudi Council of Engineers.
